Rules

1. On site Tournament Registration opens at 3:00 P.M. and the Official Captain’s/Team Meeting starts at 7:00 P.M. Friday,  August 5, 2011 at Sullivan’s Island Fire Department  “Big Shed”, 1459 Hennessy Street, Sullivan’s Island, SC. Tournament registration closes at 8:00 P.M.

2.     The Tournament's General prize structures, prize values as well as number of places paid are based solely on participation. All special prizes are offered as is and may be different in model, color, options and features, than those shown for illustration and/or display purposes.

3.     All competitors must complete a “Team Member Information Form” prior to start of competition.

4.     This is a No Check-Out Tournament. No fishing lines in the water before 6:30 AM, including teasers and bait rigs.  The use of cast nets is allowed at any time.

5.     Tournament Boundaries include the Atlantic Ocean waters between latitude lines N33-51-30 and N31-42-00. This area is approximately described as: 2 NM north of Little River Inlet SC to 1 NM south of St. Catherine’s Sound GA. Boundaries are in place from completion of the tournament Captain’s Meeting through 5:00 PM of the designated fishing day. No competitor shall navigate or fish outside of designated Atlantic Ocean waters during stated times.

6.     All weighed fish must be caught with rod and manual reels during tournament competition hours. Fish must meet local, state and or federal harvest guidelines. No augmented, altered or mutilated fish will be allowed. Weighed fish will become the property of the tournament’s benefiting non-profit charity.

7.     Protest must be declared by a competitor in writing, accompanied by a $200 cash deposit, no later than 15 minutes after the last fish has been weighed. The deposit will be returned if the Tournament Committee upholds the protest. Decisions of the Tournament Committee are final.

8.     A NOAA National Weather Service forecasted or announced statement of “Small Craft Advisory” or more severe conditions for the coastal waters from South Santee River SC to Edisto Beach SC out 20 NM during scheduled fishing times will result in an automatic rescheduling. First alternate fishing day will be Sunday, August 7, 2011. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to delay, reschedule or cancel the tournament due to inclement weather or other safety concerns.

9.     Only one primary Kingfish General Division tournament prize per boat. “Class of 23” prizes are not bonus prizes and are part of the Kingfish General Division prize structure.

10.   “Secondary” category prizes will be awarded to the largest Kingfish caught by teams who have members consisting of Youth Anglers (girls or boys 15 years or younger), Lady Anglers (16 years or better), Senior Anglers (men or women 55 years or better). These awards will be based on single largest fish weighed per boat. The competitors being recognized are encouraged to participate in angling of the catch.

11.   No tournament boats are to come together unless an emergency exists. Emergency assisting vessels must immediately contact the tournament committee. Boats are not allowed to make land fall during tournament hours prior to weigh-in. Captains and teams are responsible for following all local, state, and federal laws. Any legal citation received during tournament competition constitutes disqualification.

12.   All boats must have an operating 25 watt VHF radio on board. The Tournament will monitor VHF Channel 72 during check-in.

13.   Teams must display original tournament issued boat number placard at check-in. Check-in location(s) will be announced at the Captain’s Meeting.

14.   Teams must present tournament issued boat number placard at weigh-in. Weigh-in begins at 3:00 P.M. Weigh-in lines close at 5:00 P.M. A Tournament Committee member will determine the “End of Line”. Weigh-in times are determined by check-in time. In the event of a tie, the earliest check-in time will determine winner.

15.  All boats weighing fish must return to weigh-in unassisted. A tag with boat number and Category/Division will be attached to each fish by a Tournament Official prior to it leaving the boat. Fish must be accompanied by a team member to the scales. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to inspect any boat entered in the competition at any time.

16.   All prize winners release and assign all rights for their likeness to be used royalty-free in the promotional efforts of this and future tournaments. Prize recipients are responsible for all sales and personal taxes due, as well as any required title and transfer fees.

17.   Prior to the start of competition, the Tournament Committee reserves rights to modify, add, delete or adjust any and all rules at their sole discretion as well as limit access and entries as it sees fit. There will be no refunds of tournament entry fees after the completion of the official Captain's Meeting.

18.   Participants in the tournament enter and compete at their own risk. The Tournament, its members, officials, sponsors, directors, sanctioning organizations, volunteers and or hosting entities shall not be liable for and hereby disclaim any and all legal liabilities for any and all damages of any kind suffered by any participant, entrant, angler, guest, spectator or individuals. By signing this form the applicant agrees to a polygraph/voice stress test examination of the team if required or deemed necessary and further agrees to abide by the decision of the examiner and Tournament Committee. Additionally, applicant agrees to accept prizes as is and further understands all prize values are based on M.S.R.P. and that the tournament prize structure and prize purse, unless stated otherwise, is based solely on paid participation. The captain is hereby accepting full responsibility for the actions of the boat and team and proclaims he has read and understood official tournament rules.
